My newest adventure (besides the 3 month old) is becoming certified to teach Lamaze childbirth classes. I attended the international Lamaze conference earlier this month, and it was so cool to see some of the my birth heros. I got to hear Penny Simkin talk (author of "The Birth Partner" among others), and she was beyond awesome!
So, soon I will be doing my student teaching for Lamaze. I'm thinking in the January timeframe. If you are interested (and due in the February - March time frame) please let me know. Lamaze is not just the breathing method of old but is more of a point of view on birth, and that is that "Birth is normal" It doesn't advocate for a certain type of birth, but rather for us to be informed consumers of maternity services.
I took the Passion for Birth training whose goal is to "stomp out boring childbirth classes" so I can guarantee a much different experience from the stereotype ; )
